A year ago tomorrow, we adopted this funny little girl from @bideawee. She's destroyed every dog bed we've ever given her, is scared of loud noises and people she knows if they're wearing hats, but she's ours and we're hers and we wouldn't change a day. I was pulling up dandelions in the yard when what did I see hovering by the lilacs but a bee fly! I knew they were around but I've never saw one in my backyard before. Here I managed to catch it resting, but for most of its time near the lilacs it hovered gracefully, its wings going so fast they were a near invisible blur. It very much flies like a hummingbird. These guys are pretty cool - in addition to being pretty important pollinators, their larvae predate on eggs and larvae of other insects. #beefly #macrophotography #macros #macroclique #lilac #insectagram #bugs #flies #bugsofinstagram #insectsofinstagram #bombyliidae
